When a holiday-lighting distributor shows me an inventory report, I do not begin with the total number of units left. I ask the team to write a second credible buyer beside every remaining SKU. Does IP65 Make Seasonal Stock Easier to Reuse Than IP44?

At reorder time, last year's sales number can dominate the conversation. I make the team examine the remaining units first. Leftovers contain information about forecast quality, product fit, channel execution, and service burden that a top-line sales report hides.

Before reordering, ask what sold, what remained, why it remained, whether the configuration is unchanged, which second channel was actually validated, and what service the installed base requires. Reorder only the part of the story supported by evidence.
